What We Offer In A Whole Home Remodel
Whole home remodeling in Wallingford, CT, can mean different things to different families. Sometimes, it's a complete redesign of the first floor. Other times, it involves a structural addition, a new layout, or renovating every major room in the house.
Our goal as professional home remodelers is always the same, no matter the scope: to deliver a transformed space that feels personal and built to last. Let's take a look at what we offer in our whole home remodel:
Kitchen Renovations
We remodel kitchens to be more usable for homeowners and more open when they need to be. We even go so far as to make them a lot more enjoyable to spend time in. Plus, when you remodel with us, we do this without turning your home into a construction zone for months.
Bathroom Renovations
Bathrooms aren't flashy, but when they're well done, you notice. Maybe you've only got one, and it's getting crowded. Maybe the layout drives you crazy. Or maybe it's just time for an upgrade. We remodel bathrooms to work better while looking better.
Interior Finishes & Full Refresh
Sometimes, all it takes is a full refresh. New floors, fresh paint, updated lighting during home improvement in Wallingford and suddenly, the whole house feels different.
Home Additions
If you just need more room, you don't need to find an entirely new place to call home. Instead, you might just need to embrace an addition or expansion upward or outward. However, the key is making it feel like it's always been there. That's where we come in at Sunwood.
We've built everything from family rooms and guest suites to first-floor bedrooms for aging in place, home theaters and gyms, and even work-from-home offices. In our opinion, a well-planned addition gives you the space you need without giving up the house or neighborhood you love.
Floor Plan Reconfiguration
You don't always need more space. You just need your space to make more sense. If you're bumping into walls, weaving through furniture, or constantly wondering why things were designed the way they were, a reconfiguration might be the answer during your house renovation in Wallingford.During a whole home remodel, we can take what's already there and rearrange it to fit your life better now and not how it used to benefit you or the previous owners 30 years ago. Don't worry. We'll touch base with you continuously to ensure you are happy with how we plan to reconfigure things to make the most sense for your current and future lifestyle
Why Choose Sunwood For Your Home Remodel
We know remodeling your home is a big decision and is one that takes trust, clear communication, and a shared commitment to quality. At Sunwood, we take that responsibility seriously.
We're a family-run business with deep roots in Wallingford, and we've been completing custom home renovations throughout Central Connecticut since 1985. When you work with us, you're not getting a cookie-cutter approach or being handed off from person to person.
You'll work directly with our experienced team, and we'll get to know you, your goals, and what makes your home feel like home. We also believe in doing right by our neighbors. That means using skilled local tradespeople, sourcing from small businesses when we can, and keeping quality at the heart of every project.
In addition, if something's not right, we fix it. If something can be done better, we do it. At the end of the day, we remodel homes like we'd want our own remodeled, so you can trust that we have your best interests at heart.

A Case Study: Top-To-Bottom Renovation With Addition - Fowler Development
Heidi was not quite content with the design or space of her home, so she came to us for help with a whole-house renovation. We were able to add an addition to the back of her home and then totally renovated the whole house.
We were able to work with Heidi and give her a second bath on the second floor and a nice open-concept floor plan on the 1st floor. With this open floor plan, she can work in the kitchen and still be able to congregate with family and friends, unlike before.
The new bath upstairs will make things easier. Anyone using the two bedrooms upstairs now has their own bath and does not have to come downstairs to use the one bath that she used to have. With beautiful views of the lake from both floors, Heidi is very happy with the outcome of this project, and so are we at Sunwood.
As you can see from these pictures and what we have shared, we are capable of adding additions to your home along with remodeling any room in your house, whether it be your kitchen, bath, or bedroom; we can make your home look totally new and different.
Here at Sunwood Development, we have many years of experience in doing complete home renovations, along with great customer service. We will always do our best to give you everything you want. We take pride in our work and want you to be happy with the outcome and enjoy your home for years to come.
Common Home Remodeling questions & Answers
What Is the Typical Workflow for a Home Remodeling Project, Such as a Kitchen Renovation?
The process usually involves creating a design, ordering materials, obtaining building approvals, demolition, rough electrical and plumbing work, wall and floor preparation, installation of flooring, cabinets, appliances, countertops, and finishes like painting and backsplash, followed by final plumbing and electrical work, accessory installation, and touch-ups.
How Should I Start My Remodeling Project?
Begin by identifying your style preferences and must-haves. Browse design websites and magazines for inspiration, create a vision board, and set a realistic budget, including a contingency fund for unexpected expenses.
How Long Will My Remodeling Project Take?
Timelines vary widely depending on the scope. Small projects like bathroom upgrades may take a few weeks, while full remodels or additions can take several months. Permitting and inspections can add time, so start researching permits early and maintain communication with your contractor for updates. Also, weather and material availability can factor in.
Can I Stay in My Home During Remodeling?
Often, yes, but it depends on the extent of the renovation. You may need to set up temporary kitchens or bathrooms if those areas are affected. Planning for inconvenience and having a strategy for meals and sanitation is important.
Do I Need Permits for My Remodeling Project?
Permits are usually required for structural changes and electrical and plumbing work. However, requirements vary by location, so check local regulations and work with your contractor to ensure all permits are obtained. Permit costs can range from $1,200 to $3,000, depending on the project.
What Should I Expect During the Renovation Process?
Expect some disruption and mess, such as trucks, dumpsters, and material storage in your yard or driveway. Clear communication from your contractor about progress and challenges helps reduce frustration. After completion, a final walkthrough and quality check are standard.
How Much Will My Remodeling Project Cost?
Costs depend on project size, scope, and materials quality. Prices can vary significantly between contractors, so get detailed bids and ensure they cover the same scope and materials. Beware of bids that are unusually low, as they may lead to change orders later.
What Home Improvements Add the Most Value?
Kitchen and bathroom remodels, basement finishing, and home additions typically add significant value. Improvements that modernize your home and increase energy efficiency are also beneficial.
